I'm hoping someone can tell me what this chrysalis is.
I found it in northern NJ in January attached to a barberry shrub.

Not a chrysalis, but a cocoon of a moth in the family Saturniidae; possibly a cecropia moth - see https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Hyalophora_cecropia_cocoon.jpg
