I was hiking in central Kentucky today and stopped to take some flower macro shots next to a creek. This spider was going back and forth between some of the flowers. I couldn't get a very good shot of it, but I hope these pictures are enough to help identify.
I sort of hope it wasn't one because I saw a lot of others out there today and really don't like the possibility that I brought one home on my clothes.
Is this a brown widow?
Although your spider superficially resembles a brown widow (Latrodectus geometricus), I do not believe that it is one – see http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/honeybee/images/brown%20widow%20ventral1-Buss.JPG for an image of a brown widow. Also, you are outside of the known geographic range for this species.
I'm very glad to hear that. Thanks
