In search of a ground cover to put between pavers in the hot Arizona desert...

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Hi gardeners, I am searching for a good evergreen or perennial to put between my stepping pavers. I do not want an invasive plant but one that is controllable with a little effort. The area has southern exposure (full sun) from 11 AM until 2 PM.
Thanks for any ideas!

Hmmm, heat sandwiched into heat. That's tough on plants - I cant imagine anything but goatheads surviving that...if it were shaded the hours it is sunny, it would still probably be hard on anything to grow small enough to behave in that spot. MAYBE someone has had a bit of luck in such an area...

You might want to try creeping thymes. Most of them like sun and heat, and they smell good too.

Hi Audrey and thank you very much, I just bought creeping thyme seed and plan to plant them today, I also put sweet alyssum seed in because it bloomed all winter in this area and I know it reseeds here so I am hoping for some cover otherwise I will have to put in a full paver area and I really did not want to do that because of the heat factor but slipping and sliding on wet clay soil if you miss a paver is not fun!
Again thanks for your response,
Carla
