Insect came from ceiling and dropped from ceiling light- presumably attracted to light and was also able to hop/jump around and move it's antennas vigorously.
Highly frightening experience. Trying to trace the species of this creature to prevent further trauma.
Would be relieved if somebody could help identify it.

It's a female field cricket in the genus Gryllus; see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/33469610 for an example. They are very common and can be nuisance pests when they get indoors, but they do no real damage there. Control is not necessary...
