My housemate purchased this property a couple months ago. There is an arched trellis in the backyard with two grape vines growing on it (see photos). I don't think it was pruned last year. My goal is to prune it in such a way that the trellis is attractively covered with leaves, I am not that concerned about fruit production.
I have no experience with vines so I did some quick internet research and this is the information I am working off so far:
- For an attractive look on a trellis I should do fan pruning
- To promote good growth I should prune these back to 2-4' tall
Does this sound right? Can anyone give me some more detailed advice? If someone was able to mark on the photos where to prune that would be really awesome.
Thanks!

I don't know specifics but since nobody else has posted, I might offer this:

You can see how much it has grown in a year or two. It is normal for grapevines to make new vines many feet long each year, so you want to keep up or have a huge mess.
General pruning rules: Each cut end will send out new growth near the end. Bad pruning rarely kills a plant.
If unsure, at least do remove all or most of the long thin vines.
