I have two of these, a red one and a yellow one. Neither have flowered for several years. They get quite a lot of sun and the occasional feed and look quite healthy. I prune them lightly in the spring. What's happening, or rather, not happening! Should I give up with them or persevere? By the way, this is in the southern part of the UK.
Cape Fuchsia/Phygelius
I've had numerous cultivars of Phygelius that I've planted in a sorta similar climate. I've had one that survived a severe freeze only to happily grow to 7'+ inside a Yew hedge. Other cultivars bloom but don't seem happy enough to grow. Just a theory here but they don't like to sit in wet soil so they need good drainage, they don't like poor soil so it needs to have a good organic content. They seem to prefer some protection from wind and late day sun. Hope this helps.
