Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

Looks great at this point I could sow rice!

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

At this point, all of Houston could sow rice, LOLOLOL!!!

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

So glad your ok. Please keep us updated.

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

potatoes are doing well. that one that got limpy during the day has now stopped doing that for whatever reason. chives have come into bloom, and beets are starting to take off now.

Oh, those beets are looking marvelous!!!! Congratulations!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

For the first time in years, I have garlic chives popping up in a crack between the back patio and a slab to the shed. About 5 years ago, I grew some in a pot about 5 feet from the crack. LOL

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Maybe this is the first time they've gotten enough water....lol

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Between last spring/early summer and this spring, that might be the reason!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

After our last cold snap, I decided to go ahead and get things planted in the ground.

We were able to get the 3 types of tomatoes planted, the bell peppers, the jalapeno's, zuchinni, yellow squash, cucumbers, and asparagus. Of course, with asparagus, it will be awhile before we see much, from what I understand.

Wow. Sorry the pix are sideways!

It looks like you have gotten a great start. Please let us know how it goes. Good luck!

What am I going to do with all of these peppers this year?
These are last year pepper plants, which they never died !!
They are loaded.
I will chop and freeze some and I will pickled some more.
Dry the hot peppers ...
Use them for salsa ... but I still think I will have so many peppers this season.
Any suggestion to preserve them?

I know what to do with tomatoes ... I hope the storm forecast for tomorrow will not damage them.
All my tomato plants are full of tomatoes.
So far 3 varieties ripen fruits:
Stupice,
Principe Borghese
Grappoli d'Inverno
soon (look at picture #2) Glacier

Eggplants are still very small.
I found 2 Squash Bugs around my zucchini yesterday !!
My Blackberries plants did not like the warm winter.
I have at least HALF of the growth and blossoms from last year !!!

I tried last year ... I really didn't like it !

Did you buy a thornless variety of Blackberries?

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

i was thinking that i did, but apparently not, as this one has plenty of them on it

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

Next time buy the Blackberry plants without thorns. Much better.
happy harvests !

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

My thornless variety wasn't as hardy as the variety with thorns. It also produced smaller berries.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I've had the same experience as Stephanie. I prefer putting up with the thorns.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

A church member asked if I wanted to come pick the blackberries from his overgrown thicket. I'd have braved the thorns. But, it's the snakes that I KNOW are there, just waiting to tap on me, LOL!

I sure hate to not go, cause I KNOW those are some of the juiciest, sweetest berries around...

I MIGHT re-consider, with two or three wingmen, AND my Public Defender filled with 000 buckshot....

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

i am definitely accustomed to the thorns myself, as last year my main source of blackberries came from the wild vines out in the forest behind the house, lol. at least with having a purchased one in the yard i know that i wont have to be going right into the thick of where all the ticks and mites hang out.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Yikes! Snakes, ticks, and mice! I think I will continue to support our farmers markets. LOL.

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

im hoping this is my sweet corn starting to sprout up, and not just another piece of crab grass trying to sneak its way into my garden via underground roots, lol!

I found 2 clusters of squash bugs already .... grrrrrrr

Cascade, VA(Zone 7a)

So i was wondering why my chive plants were starting to flop over, turns out that you are supposed to keep them snipped down kinda short, i still left the flowers behind though and put a little support around them, because the bees were going crazy about them. Sure did end up with a HECK of a lot of chives to bring indoors though, lol. I think i will dry these....AND dry my eyes while im at it.

I haven't had chives in my garden for a few years....until this year. I guess all the rains have brought them back to life! Now I just need to relocate them to a better spot.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Does anyone know what these are? They are coming up where I have/had the pumpkins, corn, and sunflowers planted.

I mean, if you can block out the weeds around it . . . the one with the reddish leaves

Thumbnail by Syrumani
Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

The sunflowers are enjoying the rain, I think! And the cherry tomatoes have a little flower on them. Should I clip these off until the plants get bigger? They are only about a foot tall so far . .

Not sure of the name of them, but they are a type of tree that can spread by underground roots (and quite a long distance away from the mother plant i might add). around here people just call them "stink trees", for reasons you will find out should you decide to remove it, lol. these guys are easily plucked out when its a young plant, but if its one that is growing from an underground root, even though they pop out easy too it will just keep coming and coming and coming back unless the entire system dies out.

I'll take a look around the other trees that are in that part of the yard . . . see if I can find a bigger version of it . . . thanks!
