I found this dead insect in my kitchen - no idea how long ago it died.

It's an ichneumon wasp; these all are parasitic on other arthropods. It might be in the subfamily Pimplinae - see https://www.sbnature.org/collections/invert/entom/COP/img/hym/pimp1-b.jpg for an example.
