My first banana tree (central Florida)... and I could use a little help with identifying the species and when to harvest them (been read various web posts...but still need help)....
I took a few photos; the 30 gallon trash can is for size perspective.
1) Overview of Banana plants (maybe 5' tall): https://goo.gl/JAsL2c
2) Brown/black spots on green banana (3"-4" bananas)? https://goo.gl/FolfE1
3) Flower and black (dying baby bunches?) https://goo.gl/ieRLyK
4) Close up of the dying (?) baby bunches (?) https://goo.gl/K5PmFl
Are the black/brown spots on the banana mean that they are ready to be picked? Or something else? Reading the various posts around the web, indicate that then the banana 'round' and the edges are gone is when to pick them, but on these bananas the edges are still there.
The black stuff at the end of the baby bunches... are more coming or are they done?
Comments? Suggestions? Thanks!

First Banana Plant and I could use some help....
Awesome!
I was thinking or dreaming about growing Banana in my garden, but i thought that banana needs only cold weather so it will never grow in my country and also i thought it will take minimum 4-5 years to give fruits when it will grow very very tall high, but your plants sounds it is even as long as a short guy, and i see fruits?!! WOW
I am new here and i didn't come for help because i don't know anything about the diseases, but i came to your topic to ask, how long it takes for your to plant this banana and having the fruits? Did you plant it from seeds or from seedling?
So the plants has been there a short while maybe 1 year or two. However, this past winter died and 'regrew/renew' --- I think it's been about 6-9 months? We also took several pups and transplanted them to different locations. They have not flowered.
Well, almost many plants don't like the frost and some don't like the extreme heat, i live in a country with extreme heat in summer, so will that affect it too even if i cover it or water it much?
Banana is one of the fruits that i really like to eat or drink its juice, but it is expensive sometimes to buy a lot and quickly exhausted if not eaten in a week or 2.
A web search indicates that average temperatures during the hot summer months in your region (Ajman, UAE) averages 35c and highs around 42c. That seems fine for banana plants. I think the colder months are the ones that you need to worry about (below freezing). As colder plants will kill the pups. Where I'm at, it only very cold (below freezing) for several days, once every few years. Another option is growing them in containers. Apparently Banana will grow and thrive in containers, this allows you to move them indoors in the winter months when it's really cold.
So, in short, I think you're fine growing bananas in your region.
