I'm in the Los Angeles area. I'm curious what type of spider this is
Spider ID
Its a wolf spider, but I can't tell you which species.
Not a wolf spider, but a funnel weaver/grass spider in the family Agelenidae; see http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/spiders/IMG_0472b.jpg for an example. As a general rule, western species are difficult to identify to species in the field.
Wow! I sit corrected. If I saw it in my yard I'd think "wolf spider" and not give it a second thought.
Thanks guys
I was aware of wolf spiders but not of grass- til this forum. So I've called 'them' all wolf spiders.
