Plants for trellis on fence with north exposure

Vero Beach, FL

I have a trellis on a fence with a north exposure. I've planted Snap Peas, Cucumbers, Zucchini to climb the trellis. Unfortunately with the north exposure they do not get direct sunlight because of the fence. It is the only area that I have for the trellis. These were the plants I found for this time of year here (Vero Beach, Central Florida). The plants start out OK but then they die off. Also, the cucumber did climb but then was eaten by something. I couldn't find caterpillars but did see some black spots l on the Cucumbers
I sprayed with a pesticide made for vegetables and fruits but this didn't stop the problem. Next the Zucchini leaves were devoured. The snap peas were about 6 inches tall when they died. New to vegetable gardening any help would be appreciated.

Location, location, location. Don't try to fight it. I don't know of any vegetables that will thrive in full shade.

Hi Richmo-
I would try the Florida gardening forum, they are an active bunch, and probably have good advice about your spot in the almost-tropics.

You are planting veggies that don't have the same requirements, Zucchini grow like a bush they don't need a trellis.

I think you need to be a paying member to go to the Florida Gardening Forum, definitely worth the investment IMO. However, you can post in the beginners gardening forum and get help there.
