What type of spider is this?

Hi, just found this spider in my bedroom and I'm petrified, I'm gotten rid of it now but I'm scared there may be more, also, I've never seen a spide win markings like these, should anything be done?

This is a cobweb/comb-footed spider (family Theridiidae); it looks like a Steatoda sp. Some species in this genus are known as 'false widow' spiders, and have received quite a bit of sensational (albeit inaccurate) press coverage.
