Help with ID?

Covington, GA

I have some orange "surprise" lilies, at least I was told that is what they are called. They have a darkish green liriope type leaf with a white stripe down the middle of the leaf. They just bloomed and got mowed down because we are remodeling a 150 year old farmhouse and the guys did not notice them.. It belonged to my grandmother who planted the "lilies" probable 40-50 years ago. I have looked all over for surprise lilies and cannot find orange ones. Is anyone aware of an older version of these lilies that is orange? If not can someone tell me what they are? I dug them up because I didn't want them damaged and now am concerned about replanting etc due to digging them up at the wrong time and need some info asap. I live in Zone 8, planting area. Good news is I thought I had only about a dozen bulbs an I have over 75! Thanks for your help.

Can you describe the flowers (size, numbers of flowers on a stock, number of petals...)? Can you show us a photo of the bulbs?

Whatever they are, they've survived 40+ years with little or no help. Replant what you want, good chances are some will live.

How interesting! I hope next year you will take photos and let us help figure out what they are.

There is an orange surprise lily called Lycoris sanguinea, though I don't think it has white stripes on the leaves.
