CLOSED: Is This Bug Friend or Foe?

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

It doesn't look good, I think I see sucking mouth parts. The bug looks good, it doesn't look good for the plants. I hope I'm wrong cause he was enjoying free reign on my seedlings and I had issues getting my photo up here. By the time I got organized with software updates, he is MIA.

Is the photo good enough for an ID?

This is a 'good guy'; it's a nymph of an assassin bug in the genus Zelus, they are predators on many other small arthropods, including garden pests...

Thanks! Will he die in my basement with only Fungus Gnats and Spiders to dine on?

I always wanted Assassin Bugs, now I know what the nymph looks like.

These bugs usually overwinter as nymphs, but in some sheltered area where they are dormant and do not feed.

Thanks so much for the information Flapdoodle, I'll look forward to spotting more in the spring.
