Protecting Bay Laurel Outdoors in winter

Has anyone been successful in protecting a potted bay laurel outdoors in winter in Zone 6? Mine is too large to find a good home indoors.

Sorry, it won't make it your climate. You might as well prune it down to a size you can over-winter inside.
