Both seen in central Kentucky, on the same plant in mid-September. I know one is some sort of swallowtail, and thought the other might be a fritillary.
Can you identify these two butterflies?
The 'fritillary' looks more like a tawny emperor to me - http://www.prairiehaven.com/?page_id=28479
I agree with Flapdoodle that the orange butterfly is a Tawny Emperor and the other is a tattered Red-spotted Purple.
