I need help identifying this spider on top of my door in The UK, Essex please - Can it bite?

I cannot see enough of this spider clearly to be confident of an i.d., but it is certainly nothing dangerous, even if it is capable of biting. As far as I know, the only spider in the U.K. capable of inflicting a bite of any consequence is Steatoda nobilis -
