I suck at IDing willows. Anyone know what this none is?
On the edge of farmland in SE Massachusetts.
Salix Species ID
Try a salix purpurea- I cant get good images where I am, but there are a few natives salix nigra and alba, also to look at
What makes you think this is salix, by the way?

It is a Salix, but not S. purpurea (that's unusual among willows in having opposite leaves; the leaf shape is also wrong).
If it was in Britain, I'd say Salix cinerea, but that doesn't occur in the USA unless it has been introduced and become invasive. But there may well be related species native for you which look similar.
Resin
Is there any chance this is Salix discolor?
Yes, that looks a good match

I think I photographed this same tree when it was fruiting a while ago actually. lol. My memory kicked in finally.
Thanks!
