Interesting fly-like eyes, but a body like a bee/wasp. When in flight, it hovers in mid air with rapid wings buzzing.

This is a hover/flower fly (family Syrphidae). they are good pollinators and the larvae of some species are predators on aphids and other small. soft-bodied insects.
