It rests in the shade during daytime. When it flies, some other colour is revealed on its wings.

This moth appears to be in the tribe Ophiusini of the family Erebidae; it looks like a Thyas sp. - see https://www.flickr.com/photos/itchydogimages/20611438295 for a similar specimen from China.
