CLOSED: Is This Spider a Welcome Guest?

Would you keep it around or shoo it away, It's huge! His body is about the size of a quarter (that's huge in Michigan).

Should be very welcome - it's Araneus diadematus, known as the cross orb weaver. It's very common on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean...

Keep- I've had a few, webs were in places where they would not get walked through. And even though I have had them a few times and seen egg masses, and practice little to no pesticide use, I have not had any for years, so don't worry they will overrun you.

I take it, this is a female. She usually lays over a thousand eggs and I'm sure that would seem like overrun when all those hatchlings start to move about.

Thanks for the info and the ID.
