I'm in the northwest hills of CT and found these berries growing on a plant beside a stone wall on my property. I have never seen this type of berry before. Can anyone id it for me?

It appears to be the seed cluster of a Smilax species.
This was a "carpet bombing" post - showing up in multiple forums. Smilax sp. was ID'ed elsewhere, too - despite NO images of the whole plant, leaves, stems, etc.
