What is this plant?

I'm in the northwest hills of CT and found these berries growing on a plant beside a stone wall on my property. I have never seen this type of berry before. Can anyone id it for me?

In future, please post plant ID queries to the Plant ID forum where they will be addressed more promptly.
It appears to be the seed cluster of a Smilax species.

This was a "carpet bombing" post - showing up in multiple forums. Smilax sp. was ID'ed elsewhere, too - despite NO images of the whole plant, leaves, stems, etc.
