My mother was gardening in eastern Ontario, Canada and came across this.
She took a crappy cell phone shot before it met an untimely demise involving lots of fire (she dislikes spiders).
Any idea what this terrifying beast is?
I actually think it's kinda cute, in a totally creepy way :D

After some research.... could it be a Marbled Orb Web spider? I've only ever seen those in the UK though.....
I prefer to believe it's some crazy amazon super poisonous species. More interesting that way LOL
It does appear to be a marbled orb weaver; Araneus marmoreus. This is a very common and widespread species that also has a highly variable color pattern...
