CLOSED: Is this a grass / funnel spider? poisonous?

Lima, OH(Zone 5b)

I have been searching this and finding conflicting information. If this is a grass / funnel spider, is it poisonous as shown on this site? Other sites say not a problem. I have been finding them in my laundry in the basement....making me nervous. THANKS

This is a totally harmless (to humans, anyway) male grass spider, likely in the genus Agelenopsis. Like nearly all spiders, grass spiders have venom glands and thus technically are venomous, but they are no threat to humans. Please see the 'sticky' on spider bites at the top of this forum...

Thinking differently lately about insects...spiders...stung by a yellow jacket (has happened before) but this time it sent me to ER...swollen face, tongue, burning ears, hands, feet, couldn't talk...frightening! Read the sticky; there was mention of funnel spider bite being a problem; but not specific info. Thanks for your help.

I guess that you did not see this posting (from 2009) on the sticky:
"The only truly dangerous 'funnel web spiders' are those found in Australia (Atrax robustus and relatives - see http://tinyurl.com/2ho355). Those called funnel web spiders in the US belong to an entirely different family (Agelenidae), and although large specimens are capable of biting if you handle them carelessly, they are not dangerous."

Thank you for pointing that out. It was the post right above it that also got my attention; but I searched a little more and see what you mean. THANKS AGAIN
