I have lemon drop melons growing around my other potted plants and a young inexperienced weed whacker destroyed my melon vines more than half way from the stem. I did what I could to salvage the rest by placing the broken tips on a chair. My vines were 3 feet long, now they are 1-1.5 feet long and many of the leftover leaves near the ends are cut off. Will these vines regrow? The leftover parts near the stems are pretty healthy. I am worried and upset. Will the melon vines die from shock?
HOA weed whackers destroyed my melons, will they die?
I'm not sure about your melon vine but I've had rabbits damage stems and leaves of a cantaloupe and the vine was fine. It should grow new stems and leaves from the leaf nodes.
If there is even one leaf node left, the vines will re-grow.
My melons got infected by some kind of leaf spot. I only got 2 melons from them. Next year I may have to grow them on the porch, away from the rain. We had a ton of rain this year. Fortunately, the melons I got from them were amazing.
