I have three built in raised beds about two and a half feet by six feet. In the spring they are completely filled with bulbs and lilies and have full sun. When the lillies and bulbs are finished the end of July, there is nothing in there. Because of the trees, the sun pattern is part sun and dappled sun. I am looking for perennials that can be shaded by the bulbs in the spring and early summer and then be out in the part sun in late summer and fall. Any suggestions?
Successive plantings
I have a similar issue. I have shasta daisy, helenium, goldstrum daisy and coneflowers. I also plant zinnia, tithonia and marigold seed when i clear the dead foliage of the spring bulbs. This gives me color throughout the summer.
Thank you eze. I am wondering if I have enough sun for those you mentioned. Because of the trees, various spots get shots of full sun for maybe two hours and then it is dappled or none at all. In another month of course the leaves will be down. I have cone flowers and marigolds in other parts of my garden and they seem to suffer from lack of sun. We are in the center of full grown trees. Those you suggested are good for handling dry spells which is handy. Thank you again.
