This bit me under the arm!!

Atco, NJ

I was pulling weeds around our shrubbery. When I came into the house I felt something bite me under the arm and this is what I found. It's brown, has pinchers and kind of like a hairless caterpillar with little legs. I thought it was a worm at first. Have it saved in a plastic bag. Hope it's not poisonous!!!

When I look at it under a magnifying glass, it looks like the pinchers may be on the tail and then the head is on the other end, but I can't really tell for sure. It's a lighter brown underneath.

This will give me armpit nightmares for sure. It reminds me of all those cockroaches in the hair legends from the sixties.. lol

LOL, actually it was under my upper arm. I think it must have been on my shirt and when I closed my arm the thing pinched onto my arm. Ouch! I'm trying to find out the identify of this bug. To add to this story….I placed it in a small snack bag but didn't seal it because I wanted it to have air. I laid it on a table and covered it with a small butterfly net so if it escaped out of the bag it would still be in the net. Guess what…..this morning the thing is gone and everything is still intact!!! Houdini bug for sure.

Still want to know what it was.

You might look at the beetle larvae images, particularly the caterpillar hunter beetle larvae

It's a caterpillar, not a beetle larva. Some caterpillars have very strong jaws and can inflict a noticeable bite...
