2015 September Birthday card swap

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

The DG birthday card club is a way to ensure a special day.

We welcome new members to the birthday thread. Our delightful obligation is to send a card to each birthday club member when his/her birthday occurs.

It's best to receive a pile of cards on or before your birthday so we do our best to send each card in a timely manner. This makes the card more meaningful to the recipient and to the sender. We don't have to send expensive or elaborate cards. We can make one or pick up one at nearly any store these days, or buy a whole box of cards at once and be prepared for the whole year!

It's a wonderful experience to receive cards in the mail.

Current Birthday Club Members:

Jokenna / Tina -- February 26
Dragonflys4me / Chris -- February 28
AmandaEsq / Amanda -- April 6
taters55 / Linda Kay -- June 13
Katgroves / Kathy -- October 25
GardenQuail / Michelle -- October 28

Hi, all.
LK, thanks for starting a new thread! I've closed the August thread.
My guide dog added a new accessory: In addition to the E-collar (the cone-shaped collar), he is now also wearing a collar called the pro-collar. The pro-collar is an inflatible ring-shaped collar that is billed as a substitution for the E-collar, but my dog is so flexible and creative, he gets to wear both! The pro-collar helps to keep the E-collar from sliding down his neck too far. It's important that he not lick the treatment site as it can increase side effects and even be detramental to healing. Fortunately, he's a real trooper and is tolerating both collars! Currently, he is having a great nap. One benefit of the pro-collar from his point of view is that he always has a pillow with him :)
Hope you all are doing well!

How much longer will he have to wear the collar?

Hi, all.
We expect that he'll have to wear the collars (cone and ProCollar) for another month or so. He has another week (4 days) of radiation therapy, and then he'll need time to recover from the side effects. Not sure exactly how long that will take. I'm thinking that it will probably be late September to mid October before he is completely healed. I'm SO thankful that he tolerates all this gear as well as he does!

We will keep him in our prayers for a speedy recovery.

Hi, all.
My guide dog has now completed his radiation therapy. And now, he is working on recovering from the side effects from the radiation treatments.

Hi, all.
LK, I just noticed that you switched which forum this thread is in. We were in the Group Trades, Swaps, and Round Robin forum. I'm fine with switching, but we probably ought to be sure the others know we're in a different forum in case they lost track of us and can't find us.
My guide dog continues to heal. A few days ago, we noticed that when he was walking slowly, he'd walk on all fours, but when he wanted to go faster, he'd switch to walking on three legs. But, today, we noticed that he is walking on all fours more than he had been, so we're thinking that he must be starting to feel a bit better.
It's trying to be fall around here, but the fall-like weather keeps getting interrupted by especially hot weather. We have another heat advisory today. Around the bay, it's supposed to get into the 90s, and maybe even as hot as 100 degrees. Makes for very hot days, but the evenings are lovely :)
Keep thinking that I really need to figure out what fall planting I want to do, but haven't gotten to it yet.
Well, here's to hoping you all have a great rest of your weekend, and have a great week!
