Hi,
Is this likely to be a case of mate-and-munch, or am I looking at the victor and loser of a fight? Also what kind of spider is it, and is it ok to leave in my door frame, or should I get rid of it?
CLOSED: Spider post-coital cannibalism?
This is a male lace weaver spider (family Amaurobiidae) that has just molted. That's its old exoskeleton hanging beneath it. This spider is harmless to humans; see http://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/lace-weaver-spider
I'll let another try this one, since you are in the UK. But if it is anything like the "window spiders" I have, they do not bother people, except having to look at their messy webs. I've got one that has leftover spider legs in its web. They eat pests, so I leave them alone.
Edited to say: I was a little slow. :) And I learned something new about the moulting. I thought it was another spider.
