Beach Tree Part 2

East Bridgewater, MA

This was another dominant species on the South Coast of MA. Every picture looks the same, but so did the entire area. It all seemed to grow together like one organism. Any idea what this is?

Thanks!

Here again, you have a situation with plants blended together.

It appears (images #1 and #2) that you have a vine that is beginning to set fruit - likely a Celastrus orbiculatus, Oriental Bittersweet. It appears to be entwined/climbing on some other shrub framework.

The later images (#3 - #5) look like more Bayberry - which the Oriental Bittersweet is happily climbing on.

This provides fodder for my regular/constant request to collect pieces of what you don't know (after images of WHOLE plants) and take them where you can focus on the wee bits. Then, you will begin to recognize that you have more than one thing.

I'm starting to pick up on that resemblance...
