I just noticed a couple dozen of these on the outside of my window. I've never seen them before. Average length is about three quarters of an inch.

CLOSED: Slender white insects
These appear to be the shed 'skins' (exoskeleton) of mayfly subimagos. Mayflies are the only insects that undergo a molt after their wings develop - http://www.troutnut.com/specimen/1050
