Hi
I saw this in Co Down this week, it was in the crack of a tree and it had wings. It appeared to be covered in a white goo, that was spongy but not wet when I gently touched it (like putty)
It did not move and it was stuck to the tree. It was just a clear/white mass with wings sticking out!
Anyone any idea, I dont think it is a fungi and its not a cocoon I dont think!
