The second one looks like a late instar nymph of a bush katydid in the genus Scudderia - http://www.whereartmeetstheheart.com/dggrasshopper/dge%20-%202009-07-24%207884.jpg
These insects have their 'ears' on their front legs - you can see the opening for one in your image.
