Stuck All Over Outside Wall, What Bug Leaves These?

I've never seen this back in NY but these are all over the outside of my house and sometimes a bike tire or some other random place. It looks like a bug attaches it self to the house, then sheds this exoskeleton ? or something. It doesn't really bother me other than the fact I can't figure out what it is. thanks

If you are not "back in NY" where are you now?

Oh, I'm sorry. I neglected to put that. I'm in Miami. A friend of mine told me they look like spider nests and if so I'm wondering what kind. I have a thirst for semi-useless knowledge

Don't know what you have in Florida, but it looks very similar to the bag worms we have in our neck of the woods. They are likely a cocoon and have a caterpillar or other larva inside. Pretty sure that no spiders are involved.

I agree they look like the bag worms we have here in Texas too. They can be quite damaging to plants.

Definitely a bagworm...

We have those all over the place on the outside walls. I pull them off; ruddy things. My plants don't seem to suffer any damage from whatever it is that is growing in there. Now I know it's a bagworm. I think I'll pull off a few, place them in a container and see what comes out of those. Thank you all.

Sylvain.

thanks guys. I googled them and although the pics look like way bigger bag worm shells (or whatever you want to call them) it led me to another post that someone local posted of the same thing and they are all saying bag worm over there too. good to know what it is :P http://www.findmyroof.com/neighborhood/topic/2766-plant-or-insect-on-walls-outside/
