Mention there was a also a spider hiding near it and we have gotten a lot of rain recently. There is a door to the outside balcony in the room. Not sure how great its been at keeping bugs out.

It might be a saw fly larvae, but I could be way off. How did it get into the room... Likely travelling on something or some one from the outside. I have found numerous insects on me after I come in, but then I wade through my prairie-to-be. :) I would just take it back outside.
Looks more like a true caterpillar than a sawfly larva to me, but it certainly is nothing to be concerned about...
It's just that I've found 10 different kinds of bugs/spider around my house in the past two months. I'm starting to think they are organizing some sort of hostile takeover.
Insects are very good at gaining uninvited access to homes - we often have many 'drop-in' visitors! Fortunately, the vast majority of these are harmless...
