Why can't I remember what this tree is? This was seen in Sharon, MA at a nature reserve parking lot.
Thanks!
I Know This Tree But...
The four winged seeds were the absolute confirmation. The platy bark is good backup. The elliptic alternately arranged simple leaves were not much help.
This is not a particularly common ornamental, but a very nice and showy plant in flower. Halesia tetraptera syn. H. carolina. Four-winged (Carolina) Silverbell, at your service.
Hah! I knew I saw this before, but only once in my town center, and it was the seeds that I knew subconsciously but couldn't recall. Thanks again VV!
Those leaves are pretty standard by the way... I agree. Now i have the seeds hopefully engrained in my brain for some other day...
