Is there anyway to preserve a Queen of the Night flower or

Oakland, CA

extract its scent before its 'one night stand' comes to a close? I've also heard the petals are edible after they are through blooming. True? I've only got one night left... tonight five blooms! last night there were four! Just wish there was a way to preserve one or the scent but they seem too fragile and way too juicy for pressing.
Thank you!
p.s.sorry looks like a couple photos went through sideways...I don't know why but this was my second re-do.Thanks for the patience this is my first post here and hope I've got the right forum as well... yikes.

Epiphyllum oxypetalum - Queen of the Night. There are other plants with this common name. I have never heard of anyone preserving the flower or the scent. They are so delicate. I did find this article in Dave's archives. Maybe it will help.

I told my daughter the flowers open at exactly 7 pm and by 7:15, they were gone. She sat and watched her's the night she thought it would bloom. It opened at 8 pm and stayed open for 2 1/2 hours.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I'll check it out before the last blooming which is likely to be tonight! 5 of them. On-line I noticed someone selling the flower essence but am skeptical about that since the fragrance isn't noticeable on buds nor closed buds.

It seems Vietnamese put the spent petals in some sort of a soup But I'd kinda like to taste one fresh after it's done blooming. But am leary of that too just in case they have properties that could put you into renal failure or something like with wild mushrooms if you aren't aware of the poisonous ones. thx agn!

P.S. I normally don't send pics of my pup out having seen way too many poses of pets on a daily basis prior to my getting her. I thought it was kinda funny she actually sniffed it. They appear out of order too. It was the look at me 1st, then sniff, then nighty night. Smile.
