Hi,
I planted these quite a few months ago. There were only 3 plants and they were from small pots, about 4 inches tall each.
In spite of the hotter than average desert heat but with some shade and daily watering, they seem to be flourishing to the point of overflowing the large pot I planted them in.
Any tips on what I should do, like cut them back or ???
Thank you
David
How should I pursue with these?
What kind of plants are they?
They're Periwinkles.
With annual flowers like these, if they get "leggy" and sprawl from the planter, you can cut them back. They will grow up again, usually a bit bushier, and flower again. You can cut them back a little or a lot, but if it is a lot it might take a while to flower again. That is a very nice planter, so if you have the patience, and want to keep continuous flowers, then cut back one plant at a time, a few weeks apart. You can pinch with your fingers, or use a pair of garden clippers or just some scissors. I usually do this with my petunias and such, it makes a much nicer display later in the summer.
yes they are 'annual vinca', now technically Catharanthus roseus

Thank you for that information. What a wonderful idea to cut back one at a time.
Is there a better time of day to do this. I water early in the morning, so I'm thinking that would be a good time.
Perfect!
