I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of fly this is. It's quite large and, at first glance, I thought it was a bumblebee. Can you help?
CLOSED: Big Hairy Fly
It's a fly in the family Tachinidae - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/102102926 for an example. These flies all are parasitic on other arthropods, usually insects.
Oh, okay. Well, it was certainly big enough to take care of quite a few other insects! Thanks, Flapdoodle.
