Unidentified Spider

Mount Pleasant, UT

I have a couple unidentified spiders that have taken residence in my rabbit hutches. they look like little black and white tarantulas. I have a young daughter that likes to look at them and is often around the rabbits. I am afraid they are poisonous. I like them around because they keep Insects like wasps and earwigs out of the hutches. I just worry for the safety of my daughter and my bunnies. If they are poisonous i just want to relocate them. There are three of them in the hutches right now. I looked for them on several sites and none of them had the spiders listed.

Just don't mess with them and everyone will be fine.

It has the body shape of a jumping spider, and from some googling of jumping spiders in Utah, perhaps it's this one, Phidippus audax:

From the Wikipedia entry, "Like most spiders, P. audax rarely bites humans. While symptoms of a bite may vary, the most likely symptoms are slight pain and localized redness of the skin".

By the way, there's a forum here where you'd likely get a more educated species ID for it:
