I was in France last week and i stumbled upon a small shiny black insect that carries a little gray, soft shell with it, everywhere it goes. First i thought it was a caterpillar in an unfinished cocoon, but it kept creeping around for two days now like this, never making the cocoon. Its a pretty active little thing and it spins a silk thread sometimes.
Anyone? ID?
Tiny black bug dragging soft shell with it. what is it?!
Without a clearer image of the creature itself, it's difficult to be certain, but it might be a larva of a case-bearing leaf beetle (family Chrysomelidae) - http://www.pbase.com/richarmi/image/140972344
