While outside with my dog on this hot day I was sitting in my grass. I heard this odd noise and saw this about nickle to quarter sized beetle on the ground. It really caught my attention. Not only was this beetle beautiful and black beetle with red and subtle hints of orange on its back. It sounded like a damn old 90's digital game. It was crawling on the top of the grass and i put my hand down to pick it up.. It crawled on my hand several times and then walked right off. The last time put my hand down i went to pick my hand up and the little asshole bite or stung me. I flung my hand in pain and never found it again. Please do not scorn me for playing with bugs. This was just my inquisitive side. Well long story short this bug bite left me with a strong pain in my hand for about an hour. If felt like a electric shock and it burned. But left no bite mark or welt. I am at a loss of words. I should of pulled my phone out to take a video of this bug. Just call me old fashioned. Would have a clue to what this bug was. I am not concerned about the bite anymore the pain has gone away. Just never seen one like him before. Lived in his house for over 30 years. Thank you

No beetle resembling your description (see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/101351463 and http://texasento.net/Megalodacne.jpg for examples) that I am aware of should be capable of inflicting such pain. Are you certain that it was not a velvet ant? (See https://www.flickr.com/photos/48889105167@N01/14987536081 for an example).

It wasn't that round. It did have a 3 part body. Head mid section and a longer and wide tail end. It deff did not look furry at all.. The thing that really sticks out about this bug was its sound. I will spend time looking at some other pictures. It did have a hard shell type of body. Maybe I might try to draw it later and post a picture see if that helps.
