insect ID please

I have the prettiest insect or something in my flowerbed. It looks like tiny balls of molten silver or water and move fast when you get close to them. About 1/8 to 1/4 inch in size and on my outdoor flowers. I will try to get a picture, but by the time I see it is gone. It is in a ball then sort of unrolls to get away.
