Does anyone know what these guys are? There are lots of them on the undersides of the leaves on my sunflowers! I don't really see any signs of damage though. I've also noticed a lot of big ants all over the plants, which made me think of mealybugs but these little bugs aren't white and fuzzy!
CLOSED: Little black bugs on sunflowers!
These are young nymphs of a planthopper or leafhopper; the ants are attracted by a sugary substance (honeydew0 secreted by the nymphs. See 6 August at https://6legs2many.wordpress.com/tag/planthoppers/
