Hello everyone! I know very little about plants firstly, I live in South Carolina. I have an elephant ear that was doing beautifully (a new leaf almost every day). Until this heat wave... 100°f Temps for a week. It sags during the day then perks up mornings... Looking less perky now though... Is it heat or something else. Thank you so so much
Elephant ears, too hot? or is there some other problem?
I would think they're really heat tolerant if they have enough water. If it was in sun, then moving it to shade should let it recover.
We've had a very wet summer so far. I wonder if it's just grown fast and a little soft, then drooping under the weight of the leaves.
Look under the leaves. I have had bad spider mites on EEs. (tiny dark specks and webbing) But have seen a general overall fading and yellowing with mites.
My EE love full sun part of the time, but partial shade is necessary here and in very warm climates to keep them looking their best when the summer sun becomes intense.
A lot of rain can definitely cause problems as can spider mites.
