Hello I am looking for help identifying this bug. Found a couple on the floor in my basement. I've looked online for some bugs that match the looks and I'm down to general black beetle and the powderpost bug(hope it's the first one) so I'm a little worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated
This beetle not only is harmless, it might actually be beneficial. It's a ground beetle in the family Carabidae. With very few exceptions, these beetles are general predators on other small arthropods.
