I live in Charlotte, NC and recently had a lot of mulch delivered in my driveway. A couple of days after the delivery we've noticed hundreds of ladybug like bugs all over the place. They are crawling all around the front of the house and in the backyard screened-in porch. I'm not 100% positive it's from the mulch, but the only other thing that has changed is the heat wave coming through. My house does neighbor some wooded areas and while I'm in a newer community, the closest construction is 150-200 yards away. These bugs are fairly quick and are smaller than a typically ladybug. I've attached a top view and bottom view. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
CLOSED: Please help ID ladybug like bug
This appears to be a nymph of a burrowing/burrower bug in the family Cydnidae, see http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4110/4836872767_9bba6da69a.jpg for an example. They do not appear to be serious pests...
Thanks!
