Is this something to be concerned about? I thought it was an orb weaver until I looked it up. It appears to be a venomous silver orb spider, but the only place those seem to live is Australia and I am in WV, USA. Is this spider something to be concerned about or should we release him/her? We found it in the garage, climbing up the outside of the freezer.
Silver Orb Spider?
Can't ID your spider for you, but I live just a few miles away from you and am pretty sure the only poisonous (for humans) spiders in the area are black widows. Would not be concerned if I found it in my house.
This is a long-jawed orb weaver (family Tetragnathidae) known as an orchard spider (Leucauge venusta); it is completely harmless to humans - http://www.spiders.us/species/leucauge-venusta/
