Hello.
I found this small (a little less than 1/4 inch) bug in between my shower curtains yesterday morning. I'm the first one in the bathroom. It was around 6:15AM.
I thought at first it was a roach, but upon looking at it further, I really don't think that's what it is. Can anyone help me, please?
I know the photo is not very close up, but if you zoom, the picture retains most of it's quality. There are distinct markings on it's back. He has a black head, brown body, with four black dots on it's back. I don't think it flies, because when I tried to grab it with the toilet paper, it fell to the floor and started crawling. This is the first one list this I've seen, and I've not seen any since.
Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Bug in Bathroom
Looks to me like a Click Beetle, possibly in the Genus Ctenicera. Just an intruder, not a home pest. If you see it again, turn it on its back. It will "click" an pop up in the air in an effort to right itself.
Thank you so much!!
Agree that it is a click beetle. You might want to check on the outside for possible holes where beetles can sneak into house. I used to have 10+ showing up daily during growing season. Bifen did nothing to deter them so I would just sweep daily (ugh!). It just happened this year we redid our floor baseboards and made it a point to seal seams thoroughly with caulk. No more click beetles. The don't bite, reproduce, or nothing, just annoying.
