Interesting insect, just not sure what it is.

Wow - I have never seen this guy before. I would surely remember. Even his antenna's have tiny rounds of orange on them.

Any thought as to what it is?

Brendak654,

This forum is for questions relating to adding data to the BugFiles database.

We have a forum on Insect and Spider Identification here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/bugid/all/
and if you post your question there, you may get some help,

If you have an image, you could attach it to the message you post for a better chance of getting an identification

Having said that, I have managed to locate your insect. It is a Carrion Beetle, in the family Silphidae, Nicrophorus sayi: http://bugguide.net/node/view/180748

We have a page for this beetle in BugFiles here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/1567/
, but as yet have no pictures. It would be good if you would upload your image to that page. You will find a link at the bottom of the page, labelled:
» Upload an image of this bug
